SSL
From DPCanadaWiki
SSL refers to a 'Simpleton's Short List'
first conceived of by one 'dnorm' in the latter days of February, 2008, and the first implementation of a 'SSL' on the internet was by this same 'dnorm' within two hours, on DP Wiki.
This document describes what a 'ShortList' is intended to be, its purpose, and how to achieve said purpose. First of all, a 'ShortList' must be short, or it falls 'short' of the mark. In keeping with the idea of this, this document is short as well.
A 'ShortList' conveys, in a few words, a few ideas which will be useful to someone approaching a specific topic, assuming that the reader is one who has little knowledge (or none) of the topic. A 'ShortList' says, in essence, 'start with these few bits of information, which are important. More will be revealed.'
A 'ShortList is brief, and provides only a handful of ideas, (probably seven is too many). It says, "choose one and only one of these ideas, and use that idea to learn something or do something which you have not before." Be patient with yourself, and spend only a few minutes a day, and you will be surprised, in one week, how much you have actually learned.
In order to achieve this purpose, and yet be brief, a 'ShortList' will present ideas which are basic, simple but not simplistic, and useful, in a way which is understandable for the one having absolutely no previous knowledge about the particular topic.
It says, "start with these few items of information, and choose one of your choice, and do something with it. Come back later, and learn one thing more."
The basic principle which lies behind the idea of a 'ShortList', and which a 'Simpleton's Short List' attempts to achieve, is to encourage the person who would like to learn something new that that will not be as difficult as it might seem to be.
We learn best, new information especially, one bit at a time. 'One bite at time, you can eat an elephant.'
A 'Simpleton's Short List' presents a few useful ideas, and says, 'start with one of these'...
This is already too long, and will be refined soon...
The next step is to let you actually see an example of a 'SSL' and this info will be here soon.
If you will choose to 'watch' this page, (look for the 'watch' button somewhere on your screen), you will be notified when it is updated, though you may have to 'sign in' and create an account in order receive that notice. Don't be afraid to. (DP Wiki and DPC Wiki will respect your privacy.)
All for now,
