Our Young Folks published works in every possible genre: fiction, poetry, non-fiction, music. The magazine was famous for its engravings, some by artists such as Winslow Homer.
Many notable authors contributed to the magazine. Longfellow, Jane Austin, Louisa May Alcott, and Harriett Beecher Stowe to mention a few.

Proofing Instructions
- At this moment, no deviations from the standard guidelines
- Fairly simple to proofread. Short stories and poems.
- Please remember to transcribe the "Round the Evening Lamp" title at the end of the book.
- Watch for missing Titles especially on pages with an illustration starting a chapter.
- Some issues have songs complete with musical score. Please proof just the words as 'poems'.
Formatting Instructions
- You will find
- Poems
- Short Stories
- Small biographies of some of the authors in the series.
- Illustrations
- Decorative headers and footers
- Decorative drop caps
- Games (Rebus)
- Riddles and Puzzles
- Songs complete with Music Score
- Exceptions to the standard guidelines
- Please format the first word(s) in the chapters as small caps (Match the scan)
- When formatting illustrations try to give a brief description, as these will be used for the "alt" in the html versions.
- Songs
- Some issues have songs complete with musical score. Please proof just the words as 'poems'. I've included the music as illustrations for the PPer. Perhaps later on down the line we will ask the Music team from DP-INT to help.
Post Processing Instructions
- Simon and I are just about finished PPing the first volume.
