Old Periodicals

- Graham's Magazine has been confirmed as the first part of our ongoing ÜberProject #4: Periodicals. Simple Simon has the entire first year of volumes in hand and will release them as demand calls for them. Simple Simon is looking for PPers for this periodical--if you are interested, please send him a PM.
- The Canadian Horticulturist The first horticultural periodical published in Canada, dealing with all aspects of horticulture and gardening, the first few years dealt especially with fruit growing. From 1878 through 1904. 39 volumes each with 12 issues. Nice and Small, everyone likes them!!
- Canadian Illustrated News ... 28 volumes with between 25-27 issues each. Currently being prepped and you should see them SOON!!
- The Maple Leaf is a Canadian juvenile periodical. IonaV and .... are sharing the responsibilities for this periodical.
- Our Young Folks is a juvenile periodical; it is managed by Warmheart. Have a look.
- Scientific American (1846-1869 Issues) A weekly journal.

- Secret Service: Old and Young King Brady—A weekly magazine of detective stories featuring Old and Young King Brady, a world-renowned team of United States Secret Service agents.
- The Montreal Medical Gazette—Mainly English but usually at least one article in French, which is why I've listed it as English with French. The first issue is prepped and in P1 Waiting
- The Youth's Instructor (January 1824 to June 1824) About 24 pages each.
- Canadian Literary Magazine (April, May, October 1833) Only three issues produced.

- Christian Recorder (March 1819 to February 1821) Approximately 40 pages each.
- The Enquirer (May 1821 - April 1822) About 22 pages each.
- The Scribler (June 1821 through December 1822) 78 issues, about 9 to 18 pages.
I've also got two or three French ones coming too!
- Le Fantasque--French (but a smattering of English) -- starts off as 5 pages (double column, and progresses to about 10 pages single column) they have almost 400 issues.
- L'abeille canadienne---- also about 40 pages each --12 Issues (1818)-- Prepped and going into the rounds this week
- La bibliothèque canadienne--(about 75 issues, each between 30-41 pages) (1825-1830)

However (there's always a "however" isn't there?), this isn't the only periodical that we can do--there are lots of others out there and some that are very different than "Graham's". Is there one that you'd like to do? Suggestions for favourite OLD periodicals are always welcome, but they must meet 3 criteria:
- published before 1871 to avoid the need for copyright checking
- good quality scans of a reasonable number of issues (preferably in whole volumes=a year)
- interesting content, out of the ordinary
