Finding information in DPC Wiki

The Categories form a kind of Directory or Index for the Wiki. Categories allow you to find information grouped into broad subject areas, such as Category: Content Providing, Category: Post-processing, Category: Project Coordination, and Category: Uberprojects.
The Exploration Overviews listed below can be thought of as analogous to Tables of Contents for the Wiki.
The All Articles page allows you to view alphabetical lists of all pages in the Wiki.
The Recent Changes page is for the Wiki what the View Unread Posts page is for the Forums.
Using the Search box to the left to search for a simple term or topic may take you to a basic definition page for that term. That definition page will likely have links to more in-depth information.

Getting started...

"Getting started" is an introduction to Distributed Proofreaders Canada (DPC) and what we do here.
"DPC Wiki" is a gentle introduction to the new Wiki for old hands and others familiar with DPC. Go straight to Forums versus DPC Wiki: A comparison if you're still wondering how these two parts of the DPC community complement each other.

Access requirements: While P1 is the round where newcomers start, the rounds aren't the only places where you can help.

DPC Administrators: These folks have volunteered or have been nominated to take on some of the various administrative chores that keep DPC operating.
DPC News and Information: DPC News updated daily.

Category:DP ToolKit: A collection of information about software tools which make DPers' lives easier.
DPCustomMono2: A font designed to be just ugly enough to make it easier to catch OCR errors while proofing.
Non-DPC projects for PG Canada: Helps ensure we don't have duplicate projects.

Coordinated Scan Harvesting: Harvesting project material from other Websites? Use the links found on this page so work isn't duplicated.
EBay usernames of DPers: Buying books for DPC on eBay? Try to avoid bidding against these fellow DPers.
Projects needing OCR: Can you scan, or process scans? The OCR Pool helps you connect and coordinate.
Project Adoption Pool: New or "orphaned" projects in need of a Project Manager.
Special Teams: While all DPC teams are special in their own way, the folks on these teams provide very practical specialized services for projects.
Author Dates Finding: Help establish the copyright status of works by finding hard-to-find death dates (and other relevant tit-bits of information) of lesser known authors.

Missing pages: Can you help track down the missing pieces of these projects?
Missing Page Finders: Do you know what library has the book you need? Here are folks who have access to particular libraries.
Missing volumes: Do you have a single volume of a multi-volume set? Are you missing a volume to an otherwise complete set? Something in between? Here's a place to help coordinate "volume reunions."

Advice to new users

The nature of the DPC Wiki allows any article to be edited by any user. What you see here may be changed in the future.
Don't worry about making mistakes!

Explore using the "Random page" link at left
Practice editing in the Sandbox, perhaps referring to the editing tutorial
Again, anybody can edit any article. Fix what looks wrong, add what is missing, tidy up, move it around, proofread and reformat. No one person owns this content!

Special:Recentchanges is a list (in reverse chronological order) of what the users have edited.
Special:Wantedpages shows all the DPC Wiki pages that have been linked to, but don't exist yet. You can add them!
Special:Mostlinkedcategories shows a list of the Categories which contain the most assigned pages. Into which categories would your favorite articles fit?
Special:Listusers shows all the DPC users who have logged into the Wiki at least once.
Special:Allpages is a list of all pages in the Wiki.
